HOLLOWMOON · descent into the Vaults of Ashkerrin

☾ Today's Daily challenge

A roguelike about a moon that is forgetting the world

Hollowmoon is a free classic roguelike in the tradition of ADOM, played in your browser with no download or account. Three hundred years ago the moon cracked, and where its shards fell the mountains hollowed into the Vaults of Ashkerrin. From the deepest shard spreads the Hollowing, which takes names first, then shapes, then everything. You have ninety days.

The game remembers your dead

Every character is the next expedition the Lantern Compact sends down: the eighth, the ninth, the twentieth. When one dies, the next finds their grave in the village of Greyhallow, and their remains and gear on the level where they fell. The seventh expedition's leader left her journal in pages on the first nine landings.

The world forgets

As the days run out, the villagers lose their words, then lose the thread, and one day one of them is simply gone and only you remember them. Carry enough Hollow marks and people stumble over your name.

What's in it

18 races and 21 professions, each with its own reason to be there; 47 quests with chains, hidden quests and choices that close other doors; a wilderness, more settlements and seven dungeon branches; skills that grow with use, traits with trade-offs, spells, three gods, companions, smithing and alchemy; permanent Hollow marks; three endings. It is winnable. Press s on the title screen for a quick start.

Short on time, or on a phone? Hollowmoon Daily is one ten-minute descent a day that everyone plays identically. Curious how a Rust terminal game runs on a web page? Here's how.
